The Promenade, situated in the heart of Mitchells Plain, has grown in size and stature since we first opened doors in 2003. It’s a tale of optimism and hard work that shares much synergy with this community oriented centre. Eight years ago in November we tested the market with a reasonable 42 000 m² of retail space but the centre’s instant success made it clear that it would need rapid expansion. By September the following year a second phase of the development had been completed, adding a further 11 000m².

In 2009 the new owner Liberty, embarked on a R450 million extension and refurbishment project to include an exciting, new entertainment wing and food court.  The extension added approximately 24 000 m² – or the size of five football fields – to Liberty Promenade, making it the second largest shopping centre  in the Western Cape. The new Entertainment Wing includes eight Ster-Kinekor cinemas and a Superbowl bowling complex.

Today this is a retail destination of 73 662 m², that has become the shopping destination of choice in the Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha areas and a valuable community resource.  It’s certainly another successful Keystone Investment project.
